The Busch Fig. 314 Split Mandrel is a professional rotary mandrel designed for holding sandpaper and abrasive strips during jewellery making, goldsmithing and precision finishing work.

Also known as a sandpaper strip mandrel, its slotted design allows abrasive paper to be inserted into the split and wrapped around the mandrel, creating a compact rotary sanding tool for smoothing, finishing, deburring and surface preparation.

What Is a Split Mandrel Used For?

A split mandrel converts a strip of sandpaper or abrasive paper into a small rotary sanding tool. The abrasive strip is inserted into the slot and wrapped around the mandrel.

When rotated in a suitable handpiece, the abrasive can be used for:

How to Use

As the abrasive becomes worn, simply replace the strip. Different abrasive grits can be fitted depending on whether more aggressive material removal or finer finishing is required.
